Meet the Artist: Kathleen Jones
A mixed media painter based in Macon, GA, Kathleen Jones creates work that is a unique melange of abstract and still life. Her compositions are comprised of objects, patterns, and colors pulled straight from the places she spends time, both past and present. Art teacher turned full-time artist, Kathleen has studied in Europe, painting en plein air without a care in the world. Kathleen’s paintings evoke a strong feeling of nostalgia for a specific time or place in her life.
“I aim to create compositions that feel familiar to the viewer while still exciting and new, almost as if they know the work from a previous life but can’t quite pinpoint it. I love using colors, objects, and patterns that I see in life with traditional motifs like still life to weave a story that is both personal to me and relatable to the viewer.”
This particular collection brings forth a lot of joyful and carefree energy — Kathleen tends to lean more abstract in her work to shake things up when she’s feeling stagnant. We love how this body of work looks hanging all together at the shop!
Above is a glimpse into Kathleen’s adorable studio. Situated in downtown Macon, the skinny little space is covered in white brick, which provides a perfect backdrop for her colorful creative process.
